What is SLeEV

We call ourselves "Sri Lanka e-Evangelization (SLeEV", and belong to the Catholic Archdiocese of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

SLeEV was founded by Rev. Dr. Cecil Joy Perera, with the guidance and blessings of His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of the Metropolitan Roman Catholic Diocese of Colombo in Sri Lanka in the year 2014. The launching of the lesson portal began in 2016. Rev. Fr. Prasad Harshan was appointed by His Eminence, the Cardinal, as assistant to Rev. Fr. Cecil Joy Perera.

Our objective is to provide the Catholic faithful with an online medium to learn more about the Catholic faith and Catholic way of life through online catechetical and theological in-puts. Learning theology is not all about acquiring knowledge about a theological subject. It is in fact, deeper experience about God through serious prayer, study and reflection with the help of the study tools made available.

The Cannon Law of the Catholic Church highly recommends to the lay faithful the study of the sacred sciences. Stated below is the relvant

Canon from the Code:

Can. 229 §1. Lay persons are bound by the obligation and possess the right to acquire knowledge of Christian doctrine appropriate to the capacity and condition of each in order for them to be able to live according to this doctrine, announce it themselves, defend it if necessary, and take their part in exercising the apostolate.

§2. They also possess the right to acquire that fuller knowledge of the sacred sciences which are taught in ecclesiastical universities and faculties or in institutes of religious sciences, by attending classes there and pursuing academic degrees.

§3. If the prescripts regarding the requisite suitability have been observed, they are also qualified to receive from legitimate ecclesiastical authority a mandate to teach the sacred sciences.

Hence, SLeEV provides you with this opportunity to go through a basic course of theological studies online. It requires faith and commitment; a love for the Lord and His Church. Consider it an invitation from the Lord Himself. Probably He has a mission carved out for you!
